History of previous meetings

  1. Uppsala, Sweden, 1985

    This universitary town, which is about 80 km far from the capital, Stockolm, was the first place where the meeting occured, during the summer.

  2. Turku, Finland, 1986

    3. Turku is the second city of Finland, and is located on the westcoast. The meeting took place there during the summer.

  3. London, United Kingdom, 1989

    4. Participants had workshops, then paraded in a great general parade all together.

  4. Göteborg, Sweden, 1997

    5. The two samba school of the town, that have more than 10 years of experience in teaching samba, and have contributed to many festivals and carnavals, have been organizing Encontro'97 from June 25th to 28th.

    More than 560 artists from 20 groups were present, representing 7 countries : Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

    For the first time, a samba school represented France ; Samba Résille was the fortunate one.
