- A Bunda - Goteborg - Sweden
We have 100 members, between the bateria, the dancers, the junglers and the children. Their idea is not to strictly copy the Brazilian spirit of samba, but to combine Brazilian and Swedish cultures.
- Aquarela - Paris - France
As a child from the escola de samba Unidos da Tia Nicia, the batucada Aquarela has musicians from various countries, and plays the rythms of Rio baterias de samba.
- Atabak - Hem - France
Born from a social project, this samba workshop atelier has 3 learning levels: children, teenagers and adults that love batucada. The group performs on stage and during street parades, during carnivals, festivals, with a repertoire from Rio and Bahia.
- Bat-2-K - Southampton - United-Kingdom
With percussionnists, wind instruments, a singer, they play carnavalsco pieces -and forlkloric ones- like maracatu, afoxe,... and "new school" pieces like reggae, hip-hop, jungle...

This street percussion group, that is part of the great project Capiranhas, plays different styles, creating a unique mix of Brazilian music and some pieces from themselves.
- Escola de Samba Juventude de Paqueta - Mealhada - Portugal
The samba school was initially created to take part into the city carnival, in the center of Portugal. This carnival is a 25 years old tradition. The group is mainly formed by students under 25, and is a specialist of samba enredo.

Started with 5 friends found of Brazilian percussions, today the group and its 35 members playsin most of the carnivals in the area of Touraine. Kalika has also instrument making workshops, a spectacle for children...

200 members, this groupe organizes each year the festival Manchester 5000.
- Marabunta - Malmo - Sweden
One of the new samba schools of Sweden, that plays with a large bateria. The leader is a former director of the samba school of Göteborg. Their repertoire of batucada is inspired from Mocidade and Olodum.
- Mariposa - Cornebarrieu - France
- maSamba - Dublin - Ireland
maSamba was created after the succes of a samba festival in Dublin. 20 musicians from various horizons use to rehearse once a week. The group is very active, takes part into many events, have opened courses for everyone, and has also organized its own mini-tour in Brazil.

This group is the last taht was born in Hamburg, but all its members already have a long experience of Brazilian percussions. The groupe has in its repertoire other rythms (afro, cuban) coming in addition of the samba, samba-reggae, merengue, samba-duro.
- Poco Loco - Aalborg - Denmark
Samba school of about 30 musicians and 30 dancers. They play batucada and samba-reggae.
- Pomele - Equeurdreville - France
Association from Cherbourg (more than 20 persons), their aim is to promote Brazilian percussions practising.
- Quinta Feira - Hamburg - Germany
Samba-reggae group. 30 percussionists that love to make big feasts, and that have taken part into the Göteborg'97 meeting.
- Rakatak - Berlin - Germany
Group of 22 young musicians, playing a wide repertoire of styles based on Africa and Central America percussions. They work with dancers and other groups, and are going towards singing and dance.

"We use to rehearse near Rotterdam harbour. The group is led by 2 percussionists from the country, and mixe samba-batucada, samba-reggae, afoxe, baião, maracatu, timbalada rythmes, to Senegal influences."
- Sambalanco dot UK - St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex - United-Kingdom
Since its first year, this group have been considerably successful in its summer performances. It also works with the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra. They play samba-reggae, baião, samba-batucada.
- Sambananas - Risskov - Denmark
This group was created from the ideas and experiences of a strong musician and dancers group, who had an interest for the Brazilian carnival tradition.
- Sambaroderne - Odense - Denmark

This group has more than 90 active musicians and dancers. Since its creation, it took part into more 250 manifestations (street performances, carnivals, festivals...) with a festive and sharing mind.
- Soul Makoussa - Saint Médart sur Ille - France
"Students from Rennes samba school, we play a wide repertoire: afoxe, reggae, aotu, compositions of our own... We often perform in our region, during festivals, carnivals, concerts.
- Stroud School of Samba - Stroud, Gloucestershire (England) - United-Kingdom
The group has a repertoire of many batucada pieces that have been played during about 15 performances. Membres took part to festivals, meetings and workshops of Manchester, Bristol, London and have been playing in the schools of these towns.

This group exists since eleven years and has started as a group of young people that went together, in the great tradition of the carnival that exists there, around their passion for samba. The group won 5 times the carnival of the town and this year they have been 1st.

They play Afro-Brazilian percussions, and they took part into many carnivals of the South-West region. They are 12 people, performing on stage or parading . Their repertoire has 10 pieces, abd they work with Olodum.

- Ume Batucada - Umea - Sweden

This school has 15 musicians and 20 dancers. They rehearse once a week and have 6 gigs a year. They hope to be part of Rio'2000 event.
- Viagem Samba - Arles - France
The association has a professionnal groupe that plays batucada in the streets or on stage, a pagode group (that sings) and a school that is open to all.
